Rooted in family.
Grown with love at Red Caboose Farms.
Tucked away in the quiet countryside near Berkeley, Ontario, Lily Oak Lavender grows on one acre of rolling land at Red Caboose Farms — just thirty minutes from Owen Sound and Blue Mountain. Here, among the hum of bees and the scent of wildflowers, our family-run lavender farm took root.
Our Story
Our journey began nearly fifteen years ago when my wife noticed a few lavender plants growing along the roadside. Curious, she brought home some cuttings to see if they would thrive in our soil. They did — and what started as a small backyard experiment soon became part of our family’s rhythm.
Two years ago, our daughter launched an artisanal business, selling handmade creations at local markets. Lavender was always a favourite. Bundles sold quickly, and the fragrance drew people in. Seeing that response — and loving the time we spent working together — inspired us to take the next step.
With a shared vision and a lot of hard work, we planted our first lavender field at Red Caboose Farms. Over the past two years, our family has gathered a couple of times each year to plant and tend a new lavender field here at Red Caboose Farms. With hands in the dirt, shared laughter (and a few sore backs), we’ve watched 1,500 lavender plants take root and flourish. Our field includes a mix of hardy intermediary lavandin Phenomenal and three English lavender varieties: Folgate, Hidcote, and Royal Velvet.
Today, Lily Oak Lavender is a small, family-run lavender farm in Grey County, Ontario, growing fresh lavender and handcrafted lavender products with care. Our first offerings will include lavender plants, fresh and dried bundles, dried lavender buds, sachets, and lavender fire starters made from naturally harvested stems. As we prepare for our first full harvest season, we look forward to sharing our lavender with our community and visitors to the area. Farm visits are part of our future plans — please stay tuned for dates and seasonal updates.
